I have learne d much more about working with other. I have watched the tutorial for lifelong learning.I am probably the oldest person to do the 23 things and I have really learned more than I ever thought possible about technology and really enjoyed it.

#23 Finally Finished

What have I learned? I have learned things about computers that I never had tried to find, such as moving pictures around. There were days I was very confused and disheartened. But the days I enjoyed made up for everything. I really had to work this last month to get finished by the deadline. I watched Sarah's Video and enjoyed it very much. My favorite discovery was how we could share books with others by computer(Good reads). I really liked Flickr because it shows what all we can do with pictures. This assisted me in my learning. Yes this as been a good experience for me and i would like to participate if we did something like this again.

Using the google document to make my invitation was not the easiest program, i feel for beginners they should use something along the lines of one of the programs that are already installed on the computer. For more advanced users this would work well.

The process is easy once you create an account because you have thousands of books you can access and listen to. For people who would rather listen than read this is the perfect site for you. Instead of carrying big bulky books around you are able to download books onto an mp3 player and take them where you go, even on vacation. Things that aren't allowed is downloading the books onto a ipod nor can you upload the books onto a different website or share them with anyone. A great thing about netlibrary is that it expands the normal library by enhancing it to include more and more titles for the public. Also a great thing about the netlibrary is that you don't have to wait for a book. Netlibrary provides easy access to books right through your computer.

Podcasting is very different from just watching shows on TV or just watching movies online. With podcasting you subscribe to the site and then start downloading thing. You can download them to your ipod through itunes or to your mp3 player. One of the great benefits of podcasting is the ease that you can find information or podcasts you are looking for. There are so many different categories that you can browse until you find what you are looking for. I chose the gardening and found that I can listen to a lot of channels that gives gardening tips about flowers. I also searched for things that would be beneficial for libraries. You can get books about everything also. From poetry to great masterpieces to psychology self help books. Podcasting is relatively easy once you understand how to use the website and download your podcasts.

Wiki is a tool that lets you access a tremendous amount of information from various different perspectives. One of the good things about the wiki website is that you are able to contribute to the website itself and add your knowledge to the page. However a major drawback that I see is reliability. A website where anyone can go on and change information or write information can be highly unreliable. The best way to use wiki would probably be only as a reference because being able to rely on the information is something that people shouldn't have to take a chance on. Also there is the chance that the people can go on the website and change the information you put on there. A lot of different colleges have developed their own wiki links so that you can access information that you might not have access to. This is very good for a library because if you are researching a hard project or just can't seem to find the right information, having access to so much information about books through their libraries will help greatly.

Youtube is a great website to access thousands of videos. It is a website that has created a lot of fame by allowing people to put up personal videos that range from videos you would find on America's funniest home videos to great sport highlights to music artists that are just being recognized. It allows you to post videos on your website or on other websites such as myspace. It also allows you to create an account and save the favorite videos that interest you. Youtube.com is a website that connects people, you can watch a videos that were taken all around the world. The search engine is really easy to use and you can even see what videos that people are watching right now. I searched for Nantahala and found a video of people rafting the Nantahala River. This is a very popular activity in this area and there are a lot of people that visit this area to raft. One of the best things about youtube.com is the ease of posting your videos and sharing them with the world.

Upon clicking on Awards 2.0 a category that caught my attention was the food awards. I clicked on the urbanspoon.com website and ventured into the wide world of different types of food and recipes of Boston. If I was just searching for recipes I would probably have never clicked on this page. However, the Awards 2.0 helps by opening access to pages that you would never explore. The awards page is very helpful because it puts some of the best websites at your fingertips. It allows you to access numerous categories of different topics that you may be interested in. The only drawback that I see is that it limits the websites you have access to by putting the ones that they think is the best on top. But on the flip side it shows you websites that you would not have found otherwise. Being able to see some of the top websites in a category allows the user to not have to flounder around searching for the website that meets your needs.

The Library 2.0 movement shows how much the world has come to value computers and the vast amount of information that is out there that can be accessed by a simple click of the mouse and a few keyboard strokes. The internet has become such a integral part of society because everything is connected to the internet such as your ipod, your cellphone, Gps systems, and your camera. Instead of flicking on the TV, many people find the news and highlights from their computer because accessing and getting the information that you need is easier and quicker than ever before. Ways that it has strengthened the library is by providing a portal to even more knowledge and information that can be obtained by allowing an easier path of getting the information that is needed. However, there is a concern about privacy. Someone being able to access all of the information that you share is not the most ideal situation. While Library 2.0 may extend the avenues of communication it also hinders your privacy rights by putting all of your information out there.

Google Books is a valuable supplement to a library. Some benefits that google books provides is allowing access to a variety of books that may not be in the library. The website also lets you search for books by looking for different topics, searching for your favorite classics or exploring books about different countries. The google book is also a great tool because if you encounter a book that you enjoy you can buy it from google books. It also allows you access to not only books but to reviews of the book, maps and other reference material on their reference pages. There are numerous concerns about copyright, however the books available on google books have been obtained with copyright permission so there is no worry about copyright infringement. Google books is a valuable tool for libraries to utilize, because it extends access by allowing the smaller libraries books that they might not have on their shelves.

Delicious bookmarking is a fast and convenient way to retrieve information about the research you have done. Usually people have access to multiple computers and save the information that they are using usually on their home computer. However delicious bookmarking makes it easy to access your reserach trail by saving your information in one place. It is also a valuable tool to library access because you can keep bookmarks on the library computers that help the visitor find different research resources that they might not have had known about before. Also a great aspect about the bookmarking site is that you can share all of your favorite things with family and friends by allowing them access to your favorite things.

I have gotten this far which has really surprised me. I have learned more about the computer than I thought was possible. Things which I would never have thought to look for. If I complete the 23 things that I have chosen an MP3 player. My favorite exercise was number 10 since I love books it would be impossible for any other exercise to be my favorite. I love working with books. I posted a comment on Teresa's Blog.

I have read each of these books by my very favorite authors which I found to be very interesting .Lori Wick and Lauraine Snelling both write very clean and interesting books.I am looking forward to reading a series by Karen Kingsbury which is new to me because I have never read many of her books.I have tagged my five booksto my GoodReads ACCT.And I have looked at other peoples reviews.Everyone that have read these books have enjoyed them. Lfound the Rubits cube on Dumpr where you can find many ways to make pretty pictures.I took the rubiks cube and put the Nantahala River on itthat made it much more beautiful. This was very hard for me to do , but the results made it worthwhile.

Upon searching through some mashup directories, I chose one that would correlate with the picture that I had previously posted of a cactus flower. One of the sites that I came across was photocastr.com, which allows you to take flickr feeds and view them as iphoto photocasts. It has a very easy search engine that allows you to browse photos that interest you and even look through photos based on interestingness. Something neat about the website is that you can upload your favorite photos and load them onto your ipod.

Rss Feeds enables people to access an enormous amount of information in a standardized format.It affects people by providing them an easy way of saving valuable time byallowing you to view a vast amount of information all in one place.I enjoy seeing all the RSS feeds available.Libraries can use RSS feeds by developing a desktop system that allows the public to access such things as the local or worldwide news. My favorite feed is the extrmeedges enew crawler/home php. Where the most recent and breaking news is posted.
